Dream Job Living on the Great Barrier Reef

Time for a sea change? The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (GBRMPA) is looking for a new cartaker for Low Islaes off Port Douglas. 

Low Isles situated just off the coast from Port Douglas is looking for a new Caretaker to take over the maintaining of the light house, buildings and gardens. The successful applicant will also need to protect and preserve the island whilst educating tourists of the importance of the island especially its natural wildlife.

The Great Barrier Reef has always had a close ties with Raine & Horne with the great grand father of Angus Raine naming an island at the northern tip of the Barrier Reef.

Raine Island is a vegetated coral cay  32 hectares (79 acres) in total area situated on the outer edges of the Great Barrier Reefoff north-eastern Australia. It lies approximately 620 km (390 mi) north-northwest of Port Douglas.

Raine Island is the site of the oldest European structure in tropical Australia, a stone beacon built in 1844, and harbours the world's largest remaining population of green turtles an important environmental icon, the island is totally protected from public access. It got its name from Captain Thomas Raine (1793–1860), the English mariner who discovered it.
